Our Story

We're funding American small businesses

America's Small Business Funding Community

Brief History

Today’s small business owners face a very different environment than that experienced by America's 'greatest generation', post-World War II. Thanks to strict lending laws and big bank consolidation, getting a bank loan is extremely difficult and time consuming. Throw in the majority of online business loan options, and the situation becomes too expensive.

In 2013, StreetShares co-founders, Mark Rockefeller and Mickey Konson, met for breakfast at a local diner to develop a new business funding option that had the needs of everyday business owners in mind. The founding team had one vision: to breathe new life into the American Dream. And StreetShares, America's small business funding community, was born.

The StreetShares community brings together business owners in search of funding and investors looking for both financial and social returns. In the end, business owners get the best deal possible, and investors earn a solid return while supporting American small business - everybody wins.
